Dripping Honey |
How many calories are in a teaspoon of honey? There are about 21 calories in a teaspoon of
honey. Granulated sugar has about 15 calories per teaspoon. Honey is not just about sweetening your tea. It's great for soothing sore throats, has
antiseptic properties that have proven beneficial in healing wounds, and has a
pH level that helps fight the growth of
bacteria. In the US alone, bees produce over 200 million pounds of the syrupy substance. Each worker bee collects about a teaspoon of the nectar that eventually turns into honey. The honey's color varies according to the flower that the nectar came from: orange blossom,
alfalfa and
clover honey are lighter in shade and milder in flavor than honey made from
buckwheat or
lavender. September is
National Honey Month.
